World Series Final Game Attracts 51 Million Audience Members In the United States, Canadian and Japanese Regions.

The nail-biting extra-inning clash that saw the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 drew a combined 51 million spectators in the US, Canada, and Japanese markets. MLB reported this represents the highest-rated World Series Game 7 since the 1991 edition showdown featuring the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

The Saturday epic game averaged over 27 million viewers on Fox Sports networks, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s streaming platforms. Per Nielsen, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the week.

It also stands as the top-rated World Series matchup after the 2017 Game 7 between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07 million. This represents a 16% increase over the last finale between the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game placed fourth, the fourth game ranked seventh, the fifth game was eighth, and the third game landed in 13th position.

International Audience Figures

In the Canadian market, the game drew over 11 million viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports channel. This made it the highest-rated English-language program in the country after the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding game began at 9 PM local time, it attracted 12 million. This followed last Friday’s Game 6 – where Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yamamoto gave up one run in six innings – drew 13.1M viewers, making it the most-watched World Series matchup on a single network in Japan.

Series Averages and Patterns

The entire seven-match series recorded 15.71M audience members on Fox, a 2% increase from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This represents the initial instance since 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has seen audience growth for two straight seasons.

Including the opening game broadcast on the Univision network, the total US viewership was 16.1 million. The total World Series average in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 drew over 8 million watchers, an 8% increase compared to the previous year and Fox’s strongest postseason performance after 2017.

Major League Baseball stated that the Fall Classic was televised in over 200 countries and territories by 44 broadcasting partners in sixteen different languages.
