Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Soldiers Group

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, fiends, and dark forces growing in power within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of this adventure follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

The third episode ended with a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of heroes who will separate from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.

This warrior group includes the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the outset that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

According to the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.

Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might seem mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Motivations for Departure

To begin with, the group understands precisely where to proceed after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing started the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, assaulting the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.

The antagonist then cleared his obligations and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Cyd pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Secondly, each character has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, desires revenge.
  • The adventurer has experience in the region and warns that it is a nasty environment.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to execute Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the party reach locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, Teor swore a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that control the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This results in them no alternative but to journey toward the remote area in quest for the antagonist.

What’s Next?

According to episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Seekers and Strategists parties.

Viewers can anticipate learning which adventurers will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on next week.
